STATEMENT
My practice centres on the emotional and sensory potential of colour. I’m drawn to its ability to communicate beyond language—how it can evoke memory, stir feeling, and disrupt or soothe. There is a deep, intuitive joy in working with colour: in its tensions and harmonies, its physicality, and its power to hold both personal and collective resonance.
Equally, the work is an ongoing investigation into the act of painting itself. I am fascinated by the tactile immediacy and intuitive intelligence of mark-making—the way a gesture, a texture, a layer of pigment can carry meaning beyond language. There is a quiet joy and compulsion in this process: a space where thinking is done through doing, where emotion and memory are translated not just into images, but into relationships between surface, gesture, and hue.
My paintings exist as sites of negotiation—between inner experience and material reality, between the past and the present moment of making. Through them, I explore painting not just as a means of expression, but as a field of inquiry in its own right: one that holds space for ambiguity, intimacy, and sensory knowledge.
